Libya slave trade: Payment for housemaids in Nigerian homes slavery -Eldee

Following the ongoing slave trade in Libya,Nigerian rapper, Lanre Dabiri, ‘Eldee’ has called on Africans to stop use of child labor in their homes. Eldee says maltreating housemaids from Benin, Togo and the likes in African homes is also slavery which must be stopped. According to him, payment made for a child labor to uncles or agents in Nigerian homes is the same as payment for sex in Libya, adding that masters need to let go of their helps. In a series of tweet,he wrote: “While we’re on the topic of slavery in Libya, I hope we also find time to reflect on the slavery & human trafficking in many of our African homes as well. “Those ”house-helps” from Benin/Togo whose masters get paid 10k every month to do chores from dusk till dawn.I’m talking about the ones you kick and scream at all day to do your house chores, watch your kids, do your laundry, dishes, cook etc. The ones you pay less than $50 a month to the man/woman who brought him/her from Benin/Calabar/Akwa Ibom/T

Atiku a political chameleon with no stable skin colour – Agoro

The national chairman and former presidential candidate of the National Action Council (NAC), Dr Olapade Agoro, has described former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar ‎as “a political chameleon with no stable skin colour”. According to him, Atiku would have done himself and the nation a favour by remaining at the APC to ensure that all perceived anomalies were corrected instead of reneging on his vow not to leave the party. Speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, Dr Agoro declared that there was no basis for the former Vice President to have dumped the ruling APC at this period if actually he is a sincere politician. Agoro said the decision of Alhaji Atiku to dump the ruling APC was a clear manifestation of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku’s desperation to rule Nigeria. “Not too long ago, I told the whole world that Alhaji Atiku Abubakra is a political chameleon with no skin colour stability, that is only being driven by his ambition to rule Nigeria,”he said Dr Agoro added that the former Vice

2019: Concede PDP governorship ticket to Ogoni – Ex-Lawmaker, Kwanee dares Wike

Former Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Leyii Kwanee, has challenged the state governor, Nyesom Wike to cede the 2019 Governorship ticket to Ogoni people. Kwanee said the gesture would further show Wike’s love for Ogoni people. The  ex-lawmaker was reacting to Governor Wike’s criticism  of the Ogoni clean up where the governor described the programme as political. He said, criticizing the implementation of the UNEP report was not an indication that Governor Wike loves Ogonis. Kwanee, who represented Khana Constituency 11, said the Federal Government had shown enough commitment to salvage the plight of Ogoni people than the immediate past administration where he served as a minister. “It is Governor Wike who is playing politics with the Ogoni clean-up and we want to appeal to the Governor to leave Politics out of this matter because he had every opportunity to implement the UNEP report under Jonathan but nothing was done. “If his Excellency the Govern

Maina: Prove your innocence in court, not requesting to see Buhari – Human rights lawyer, Ogunye

A Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, has asked the embattled former chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr Abdulrasheed Maina, to present himself before the court rather than requesting to meet with the President. Ogunye made this known on Channels Television’s Sunrise daily yesterday, in response to an exclusive interview by Maina in which he insisted that he was innocent of the allegations preferred against him. According to the Human rights lawyer, Maina’s request to meet with president Buhari is a ‘cock and bull story’ and also an attempt to evade the justice system. “Maina wants to meet with Mr Presdient over what? Do we even respect our court at all? Do we respect our judicial process? Do you know that in this country, Supreme Court justices are being tried in court? Who is he to be saying that he wants to recover money? “Present yourself, you are a fugitive from justice. Have your day in court, prove your innocence there – that is th

World US Embassies/Customs To Track Facebook Feeds Of Foreign Visitors

The Department of Immigration & Customs Enforcement is taking new steps in its plans for monitoring the social media accounts of applicants and holders of US visas. At a tech industry conference in Arlington, Virginia, ICE officials explained to software providers what they are seeking: algorithms that would assess potential threats posed by visa holders in the United States and conduct ongoing social media surveillance of those deemed high risk. The comments provide the first clear blueprint for ICE’s proposed augmentation of its visa-vetting program. The initial announcement of the plans this summer, viewed as part of President Donald Trump’s calls for the “extreme vetting” of visitors from Muslim countries, stoked a public outcry from immigrants and civil liberties advocates. They argued that such a plan would discriminate against Muslim visitors and potentially place a huge number of individuals under watch. ICE officials subsequently changed the p

Ending B’Haram War Now Depends On Political Class – Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Tuesday, said all that was remaining for the war on Boko Haram to end was for the political class, the intelligence community, Nigeria Police and other civil authorities to play their roles. Speaking during the decoration of newly promoted 45 Major Generals, he said the military had played its role well and won the war by successfully degrading Boko Haram and reclaiming captured Nigerian territories. He also said: “What is remaining now is for other stakeholders the political class and intelligence community to take up the salient aspects of this war to the remaining ill-fated insurgents. The NPF must be fully on the ground in all the states in the North-East; civil administration must be fully re-established in all the local government areas. The civil authorities must fight the ideological, social and propaganda wars.” Share this

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed his key finance officials to sit down with representatives of Nigeria Governors Forum to determine how much of their unpaid debts can be released to them before Christmas. How Jonathan made Obama support Buhari in 2015 – Bolaji Abdullahi

Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, APC, says former President, Goodluck Jonathan’s tolerance for corruption made the administration of ex-United States’ President, Barrack Obama support President Muhammadu Buhari. The APC spokesperson, who was a Minister under the Jonathan’s administration, said the immediate past president gave the world to believe that there was no corrupt practice in his government despite claims by former Central Bank, CBN, Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. In his upcoming book: “On a Platter of Gold: How Jonathan Won and Lost Nigeria,” Abdullahi claimed that there were allegations of “missing billions from government oil corporation, legislative inquiries into mind boggling subsidy scams, a cabinet minister and close confidant of the president embroiled in hundreds of million naira armoured cars scandal.” The APC spokesperson said, “another Minister’s recruitment ‘racket’ leading to the death of hapless jobseekers, pension admi

Reno Omokri reminds El-Rufai how he knelt before Atiku, begging [PHOTOS]

Former presidential spokesperson, Reno Omokri has posted an old photo, reminding Governor Nasir Elrufai of Kaduna State how he knelt, begging Atiku Abubakar when he was the Vice President. Late last week, immediately after the former Vice President announced his retirement from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, the Governor had described Atiku as a serial defector. He said this when he addressed reporters after he joined President Buhari in observing the Juma’at prayer last Friday, saying that the party was already aware that Atiku would leave in December. El-Rufai added that, “It was good that he [Atiku] left APC early. If given the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku is not a threat to President Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.” But in response to El-Rufai, Omokri posted a photo where the former FCT Minister was kneeling before Atiku, and wrote, “just negodi the El-rufai that was insulting Atiku Abukakar.” See image… Source:DTN.

I think we deserved to draw but maybe I think we deserved to win. “I didn’t speak with [Willian] about the cross or if he tried to score in this way. But
