The Chairman, House Committee on Works, Transport and Communication in Kogi State House of Assembly, Moses Ododo has warned electorates in Kogi State not to cast their votes for ‘money bag’ politicians, saying it will spell doom for the confluence state. Ododo who stated this weekend in Lokoja said he joined politics to expose the lies of politicians. The lawmaker who is also the member representing Dekina Biraidu in the hallowed chamber noted that joining politics should be about creating wealth and not making wealth as widely practised by politicians in the country today. Founder and General Overseer of the Living Faith Church also known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo has stated that he feels good when accused of flying private jets and maintaining them with church’s money. Bishop Oyedepo said he is not disturbed by false news carried around about him but only sees such as persecutions. A popular radio presenter, Abulganiyu Lawal has been shot dead while hunting by unknown persons at Araromi-Oke in Ekiti East Local Government of Ekiti State. The 42-year-old OAP, who was a member of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) in Ekiti State has since been buried according to Islamic rites in his parents’ residence at Igbemo-Ekiti. The news was gathered that the ugly incident occurred Thursday night along Apepe farm settlement in Araromi-Oke. A source close to the deceased family said Ganiyu, after holding a meeting with his hunter friends decided to go into the bush to hunt and promised to return before 10pm. The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL, has described the plans by the federal government of Nigeria to construct more than 48 toll gates in the country as an ‘unfortunate retrogressive slip.’ The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) had during the week announced the plans of the Federal Government to construct over 38 new toll gates at the same spots where they were demolished during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Fashola had also told the Senate Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) that the tolls would be built through private concessionaires and fully commercialized. The Presidency has attacked former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar for resigning from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Atiku resigned from the APC on Friday and confirmed it in a statement he personally signed. However, President Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, in a lengthy post on Facebook, branded Atiku a ‘Control-freak’, adding that he attempted severally to take control of the APC party structure but failed woefully. The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick, has said the Super Eagles will get five more friendly games before the World Cup tournament in Russia. Pinnick said the football federation is targeting teams higher in ranking than the Super Eagles. “We are looking at a minimum of playing five top class friendlies before the World Cup proper. “We are looking at countries that are above us in the ranking and countries that are in the top 10 of world football ranking and countries that are in the World Cup as well,” Vanguard quoted the NFF boss as saying. Veteran Nollywood actor and former broadcaster, Sadiq Daba is about to be flown to the UK for intensive treatment. Daba had opened up on his health challenges  following confirmation that he has prostate cancer. The actor who had complained about shortage of funds for his treatment, hence, colleagues and friends had rallied round to raise funds for him. Ace broadcaster, Soni Irabor, who was among those rallying support for the ailing artiste, made the announcement, yesterday on his Instagram page. Irabor also said that enough funds had been gathered for the actor.
